Galloping ahead

The right technology to meet the most demanding of requirements for indoor, outdoor, fixed temporary wifi.

The challenge

Our customer manages twenty six horse racing tracks across Ireland and needed to provide patrons, staff and participants a secure and high-performance Wifi service in all locations.

Our client is responsible for the management and marketing of horse racing and other events across twenty six horse racing tracks in Ireland. To attract, retain and grow attendance at race meetings and event bookings the business recognised that they needed to provide a secure, high-performance and scalable wifi service across the race tracks. The preliminary discussions had with the client and the subsequent tender issued focus on the requirement to find a partner to work with that only has the the design and technical capability to deploy and manage infrastructure across many different environments and locations around Ireland but also the right technology to meet the most demanding of requirements for indoor, outdoor, fixed temporary wifi.

The solution

It was clear from the customers requirement that no one technology vendor could meet their requirements. Capstone, working with our partners Xirrus, Ucopia and Xtreme Networks proposed a solution that would provide the centralised control, distributed network and wireless networking demanded by the customer. Following a detailed evaluation process, it was agreed that Capstone’s team of design experts had proposed a high-performance wifi solution that would provide connectivity across the widest area in each track with the lowest infrastructural requirement at an attractive price point. Not only that, but the proposed solution also provided the business with valuable user and movement data the business can use to accurately forecast demand and create sales and marketing opportunities from. In addition, a key part of the solution evaluation was the implementation and support services offered by Capstone allowing the customer deploy the wifi service in advance of key race meetings and have the assurance that the service would be expertly supported during customer events.

Our solution:

  • Implemented large scale wifi connectivity across sites
  • Control provided centralised control and reporting across the network
  • Managed an 18 month long, complex, technical roll out across Ireland
  • Supported thousands of users on the service both at single day events and festivals

The result

A wifi service that ensures the visiting guest, event holder, staff and horse racing community have internet access at all times across all tracks in Ireland.
